July 2018 was special to me in so many ways. It was a unique experience of work and personal life balance, both of them at the highest heights 🙂 Thanks Bradley for encouraging me to write about it!
This month I officially started a new role in the company I work for. My boss entered a maternity leave, and I was trusted with a huge bulk of confidence to lead the group marketing team for one year. I went through a few months of preparation, but nothing can prepare you for what’s really there.
It wasn’t an easy start as we had a big big project to deal with, and hard deadlines and a bit of a chaos, but I think we as a team are on a good start for the next crazy period after holidays. It’s all really exciting, I love it all, and I think that’s all that matters for now.
Top of Africa
July kicked-off with 6 intense days, to climb the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was an intense experience for the body, the mind and the soul, and a surprise in so many ways. In a secluded area like that, you get to think a lot. You get to push yourself to your limits and then be amazed by the outcome.
It’s a lifetime experience I totally recommend to anyone, and if you’re curious for more, read here all about my experience on the mountain.
Probably once in a lifetime project
Our company was listed at the New York Stock Exchange and I was helping out with the internal and external communication, as well as with the events on the day. Being a new thing, and all confidential, it was even more challenging but exciting in the same time.
I’m grateful I had the chance to work with so many professionals, to learn so much and do things well. I’ll always remember the emotion floating in the air in the hotel lobby that morning, when everyone was ready to head towards NYSE for the Official Bell Opening Ceremony. And to see all panning out even better that what was in my head.
Two continents visited in a month, peaks achieved and many many dear memories created. It was a month of stretching the limits, steep learning, keeping the balance and great food for thought and soul. Now, let’s enjoy a bit of rest as August is pretty quiet, take it all in and get ready for the next crazy times.
